As we enter our 20th season,
we would like to welcome you to the City of Christmas!
All of the displays are original and created by
local citizens with many hours devoted to construction, decoration and
upkeep. City of Christmas was established in 1989, based on an idea which
originated in rural Yarmouth, Iowa. As you journey where visitors from all
over the world have toured, we hope you feel the Spirit of the holiday season!
Keokuk's City of Christmas began in 1989 when dreams
became reality and Toyland, Santa's barn complete with reindeer and elves,
Santa's Workshop, a Nativity scene, and the International Christmas display
all appeared in Rand Park for the month of December. Public reaction was
outstanding and a holiday tradition began.
Nearly 2 decades of memories have been shared by
visitors to the City of Christmas, with totals of over 20,000 vehicles
passing through Rand Park each year. Our displays delight visitors, who
often make several trips through to make sure that they don't miss anything.
There are nearly 100 displays and nearly one million lights, so take your
time and enjoy it all!
We welcome all of you to come and take the trip through Rand Park. Please make as many
trips as it takes to see all of the displays, and remember to tell others
about the City of Christmas!
We pride ourselves on the fact that all of our
displays are built locally and totally funded by donations. City of Christmas
is a not for profit corporation run by a five-member volunteer board of
directors. We are a community project with many local
volunteers making the display possible each year.
